John G. Bergin

Mr. Bergin is licensed by the Mississippi Bar and has served in various land and legal roles. He possesses a Baccalaureate from William Carey College, a Masters from Xavier University, and Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College.
He attended law school following service in the United States Army as an Infantry Non-commissioned Officer. While in Viet Nam he initially served in the 101st and was later assigned to an American Liaison Team serving the Republic of Korea Capitol Division then serving in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and other awards.
After graduation from law school, he was associated with a Jackson, Mississippi law firm whose primary practice areas were regulatory and energy. He later accepted a position as a Senior Staff Landman with Cities Service prior to its acquisition by Occidential Petroleum in 1982.
With unique knowledge of energy related matters acquired by service as a staff landman and consultant, he effectively assists individuals and organizations in a wide range of services including Mineral Management, Acquisition, Due Diligence, Abstracting of Surface and Mineral Title, identification of Title Defects and Curative. As a leader of acquisition and due diligence teams across the nation, his subordinates were known as being professional, well-trained, disciplined and having high morale. As a leader, he brings a calm, professional and focused approach to identification and resolution of land concerns. He has presented testimony relating to land matters in five jurisdictions as well as performing services in over twenty energy states.
In addition to managing minerals for, and negotiating with countless private mineral owners, he has acquired agreements from the Cowlitz Nation in Washington State, almond farmers in California, Mennonite Schools in Pennsylvania and New York, various Catholic and Episcopal Diocesan offices, The Mr. Rogers Foundation in Latrobe, PA, various national and regional timber corporations and countless Trusts and governmental agencies.
He has held membership in the National Association of Royalty Owners, American Association of Professional Landmen, Mississippi Association of Petroleum Landmen, Energy Section, Dallas Bar and other professional organizations.
