Michael Lin (B.A. Biochemistry from U.C Berkeley; J.D. from Boston University; Ohio Bar; USPTO Bar) was such a terrible lab chemist that he had to become a lawyer.  Michael worked at Procter & Gamble Japan for 10 years, rising to the Asia head of P&G’s Fabric and Home Care Patent Group.  During this time he handled both contentious and non-contentious issues, licensing matters, IP negotiations, and IP matters in mergers and divestitures from India to Japan and Korea to Australia.

Michael moved to P&G Beijing in 2007 to establish the Patent and Legal Group where he was the Group Manager.  Eventually Michael managed the Asia patent matters for P&G’s Oral Care, Pet Care, and Snacks & Beverages business units in addition to the Asian Fabric and Home Care Patent Matters.  Michael’s various IP responsibilities eventually covered P&G’s Asian business units having a total annual sales of over $3 billion USD.

In end-2010, after 13+ years at Procter & Gamble handling pan-Asia Patent Law matters, Michael left P&G to join Marks&Clerk Hong Kong as the head of their Chem-BioSciences group.  He handles patent preparation & prosecution, opinion work and client counseling and has an expertise in holistic IP strategies, international licensing and Asian patent matters.  Michael is a member of IIPCC, an INTIPSA Fellow, etc. and has been recognized as an Asian IP expert by various publications such as IAM, Asia IP, and others.
