The purpose of regulating UPL is to ensure that only licensed attorneys are able to provide legal services to the public, thereby preserving the integrity of the legal profession and protecting the public from harm. However, tensions can arise when consumers require legal services that they perceive as too expensive if provided by a licensed attorney or firm.
